What is the difference between a violin and a fiddle?
I just saw a concert video from Celtic Woman, and in interviews, Mairead Nesbitt is refers to playing the violin and fiddling, as two different instruments. However, during the concert, who plays the same instrument in a serious (and very beautiful) piece for violin and then an Irish reel. So it's the same instrument, but there is a specific difference in technique? Or just the music style being played? Obviously, a guy in a tuxedo played a violin and a guy in a plaid flannel shirt will play a violin, but there should be more than that. What?
